Medicaid for higher education

Institutions of higher education deliver health services to students every day — counseling, disability services, nursing, behavioral health. Almost none of them are reimbursed by Medicaid for it. We are working to change that.

IHEs provide services

Campus health and counseling centers deliver important health services to students and staff, most of which are eligible for reimbursement by Medicaid.

Most are not reimbursed

Most campus health and counseling centers are funded from student health fees or general operating budgets. Only a tiny fraction receive any reimbursement from Medicaid.

We advocate for expanded IHE participation

We are working to create the conditions for more colleges and universities to be able to claim reimbursement from Medicaid for the eligible services they provide.
